Derrick and his wife Kari live in Hastings. Kari is a teacher at Hastings High School, and they have one son, AJ, who will graduate this spring with a degree in Law Enforcement from Alexandria Technical College. When he’s not working, Derrick is fishing; he spends a lot of time on the St Croix and Mississippi Rivers.
Derrick joins us with an extensive 26-year career with the YMCA, including over 15 years in executive director roles. He brings significant expertise in managing membership-based programs, including senior and volunteer initiatives.
A skilled relationship-builder, Derrick has been actively engaged in the communities where he has worked, including chairing business associations and collaborating with key community leaders. His efforts were recognized in 2013 when Mayor Coleman honored Derrick with a proclamation naming March 11 as Derrick Jaeger Day in St. Paul.
Following his time in St. Paul, Derrick moved to Hastings, where he led dedicated volunteers and community partners in a capital campaign to complete the Hastings YMCA. His team’s contributions to the community helped establish them as trusted community leaders, and in 2018, the Hastings YMCA was recognized as the Hastings Business of the Year.
For the past four years, Derrick has worked for the YMCA Equity Innovation Center, driving effective client relationships. Derrick is eager to get involved in our community and looks forward to meeting everyone soon.
Welcome, Derrick! We are excited to have you at Community Thread!
