Membership Benefits to Suit Your Interests
What is Thrive at Community Thread?
Thrive at Community Thread is a membership program designed by our community for our community. Thrive includes social activities, wellness classes, educational events, transportation options, home services, volunteer opportunities, connections to community resources, and more.
Is this a “senior center”?
You can call us a “community hub”, “social club”, or “volunteer center”, and all would be accurate. Along with offering activities, classes, and services to Thrive members, Community Thread is proud to host to services for the public like the AARP tax assistance program and the Fare For All affordable grocery program.
Moreover, Community Thread’s mission is to engage volunteers to improve life in our community, so we also have volunteer-driven service initiatives like Spring into Service and Holiday Hope, and we manage the Community Thread Connect website to match people with volunteer opportunities throughout the county!
Who can participate in Thrive?
While Thrive is designed with the requests of older adults and adults with disabilities in mind, these terms are loose definitions of who may be interested in this program. If you think you can benefit from the offerings of this program, please connect with us!
Do I have to live in Stillwater or Bayport to benefit from Thrive?
You can live in these communities, but you don’t have to! All are welcome, near and far, to join Thrive for our onsite benefits. However, we do have geographic limitations on some of our service benefits.
To be eligible for ride services, you must live in Washington County either in the Stillwater Area School District or north of Hwy 96. You must also be able to bear your own weight with only the aid of an easily transportable cane, walker, etc.
To be eligible for home and seasonal services, you must live in the Stillwater Area School District.
What membership level is right for me?
If you are looking for a way to meet new people in your community and attend regular social events, we recommend our Connect membership level.
If you need regular rides and/or home services, we recommend joining our Enrich membership level.
If you do not want to commit to either of these annual memberships we suggest joining us as an Intro member.
What if I don’t want a “membership” right away?
If you do not want to commit to a Thrive Connect or Enrich membership right away, we suggest you try our Intro level. This level does not require an annual fee so you can pay as you go!
What does membership cost?
We use a “sliding fee scale” to determine your cost of membership. This just means that, based on your annual income, a Thrive staff member will determine if your membership fee will be full price, half price, or free.
The 2025 membership fee will not exceed $144/year for Connect members or $480/year for Enrich members. However, some elective activities and events may have an additional cost.
Ride When is the best time to join Thrive?
The best time to join is when you want to start participating in any of our activities or services! You can join at any time of year, and though our membership fees are based on a calendar year, your fee at the time you join will be prorated.
How do I join Thrive?
To join, please submit a membership application. Click here to find our online application link or a printable form. You can also call us to mail you a form, or you can stop in to pick one up. Once you’ve applied and we determine your level and fee, you’ll simply complete an agreement and submit payment.
Why should I join Thrive?
The Thrive program offers many benefits designed to help you live well. These benefits include social events, home and ride services, and much more. If you believe any of these offerings will be beneficial in keeping you socially connected while living independently, we recommend joining Thrive!
If I want to volunteer for Thrive, do I have to also need to be a member?
If you want to volunteer in one of many roles that make the Thrive membership program possible, please let us know! You do NOT have to be a Thrive member to be a Thrive volunteer.
Thrive volunteer roles include:
- driving members to and from their destinations
- assisting members with basic home cleaning, organizing, and maintenance tasks
- managing seasonal lawn-mowing, raking, or snow removal for members
- leading one-time or ongoing social, wellness, or educational activities
